Large china hat lights for rent

China hats by diameter, 15 to 20 inches

The 56 lines here run from 15 to 20 inches across and cluster at three diameters: 23 lines and 422 lights at 16 inches, 19 lines and 367 lights at 18 inches, and 10 lines and 122 lights at 20 inches.

Outside those three diameters the table holds four lines. L-0250 is a 15 inch bell shaped reflector with a large hoop or ring for hanging; L-0184 and L-0483 are the 17 inch lines, one with a solid cap and one aluminum with a vented socket cap; and L-0240 is a 19 inch marbled galvanized metal china hat with a ring for hanging.

The Street Lights category holds china hats from 14 to 24 inches, mounted on a pole, a base or a wall gooseneck: L-0093 puts an 18 inch green china hat on a candy cane pole, L-0632 is a wall mount gooseneck carrying a 20 inch shade, and the street lamp L-0357 has a bubble top china hat 24 inches across. EC's 18 inch bell shaped reflectors (L-0134-1, L-0134-2, L-0417) and L-0226, a dual 18 inch china hat on an 80 inch bar, are filed under Warehouse Lights with the warehouse bay fixtures.

Necks, caps and finishes that set lines apart

Diameter aside, EC's book describes most large china hat lines by a neck, a cap, a shade, a finish or a color. The necks named in this category are a 2 step neck on L-0107 and L-0132 at 16 inches and on L-0105 and L-0669 at 18; a 3 step neck on L-0158-1, L-0158-3, L-0215 and L-0333 at 18 inches, on L-0131 and L-0531 at 20, and on two of the radial wave reflectors, L-0151 at 16 and L-0150 at 20; a 2 tier tapered neck on L-0158-2 at 18 inches; and a vented neck on L-0208 at 16 inches and on L-0676 at 18.

Caps include a twist on socket cap (L-0092 at 16 inches, L-0297 at 18), a vented cap (L-0064), a vented socket cap (L-0483), a socket cap (L-0404), a short cap (L-0207), a ceramic cap (L-0070) and a solid cap (L-0184). Shape words in the book include shallow shade (L-0212, L-0404 and L-0666, which is also vented), vented shade (L-0106) and teardrop (L-0146).

The finishes and metals in this category are chrome (L-0146 at 16 inches, L-0158-1 and L-0158-2 at 18, L-0128 at 20), stainless steel (L-0158-3, 18 inches), aluminum (L-0483 at 17 inches, L-0158-4 at 18), galvanized aluminum (L-0037, 16 inches) and marbled galvanized metal (L-0471 at 18 inches, L-0240 at 19). The colors named for these lines are white (L-0404, L-0510 and L-0525 at 16 inches, L-0207, L-0215 and L-0676 at 18, L-0518 at 20), black (L-0563, 16 inches), gray (L-0666, 18 inches) and green with a gray metal top (L-0055 and L-0055x, 18 inches).

Under one base number, L-0158, four lines show how fine the book's split runs, all at 18 inches: L-0158-1 is chrome with a 3 step neck, L-0158-3 stainless steel with a 3 step neck, L-0158-2 chrome with a 2 tier tapered neck, and L-0158-4 aluminum.

Every light under one stock number shares that line's single book description, so a run drawn from one line is described the same way light for light. The book does not say that the lights under a line match, and everything goes out as-is: a run whose shades have to look alike is worth a word with the front office first. Lines that read alike still stay separate in the book, which matters when a run needs more lights than one line lists. The book describes L-0068, L-0083 and L-0193 by the 18 inch size alone, L-0167 and L-0204 by 16 inches alone and L-0225 and L-0247 by 20 inches alone, while L-0107 and L-0132 share one 16 inch 2 step neck description, L-0131 and L-0531 one 20 inch 3 step neck description, and L-0105 and L-0669 each read 18 inch with a 2 step neck and nothing more. Globe and guard lines, reflectors and vapor pairs

Globe and guard lines number 7 among the large china hats, 47 lights in all, and EC's book describes every one of them as hazardous location: L-0169 at 20 inches and L-0334, L-0335, L-0336, L-0337, L-0338 and L-0510 at 16 inches. L-0338 adds a flush mount, and L-0510 is white. In the table above and the photo grid below, L-0334, L-0335, L-0336 and L-0337 read alike, but EC's book adds a maker and number in brackets after the globe and guard on each, and no two of the four numbers match. Each line's photo is on its item page, the place to look before a run takes lights from more than one of them. Every china hat in EC's book that lists a globe and guard is one of these 7.

Among the large china hats, the hazardous location description also appears on L-0177 at 16 inches and on L-0055, an 18 inch green light with a gray metal top and a glass globe under it; neither line lists a guard before the book cuts it off. L-0055x has the same green and gray description with no glass globe.

Hazardous location is the book's own description of these fixtures, printed here as EC wrote it. The Hazardous Location Lights page lists L-0055 and the 7 globe and guard lines again, among lights that are not china hats; L-0177 is not on that page.

Radial wave and bell shaped reflectors sit among the large china hats too: radial wave reflectors at 20 inches (L-0150, with a 3 step neck, and L-0405) and at 16 inches (L-0151, with a 3 step neck), and bell shaped reflectors at 16 inches (L-0188) and 15 inches (L-0250). The 5 reflector lines come to 55 lights. No radial wave reflector appears anywhere else in EC's book, and its other bell shaped reflector lines are the 8 and 12 inch ones on Small China Hats and the 18 inch ones on Warehouse Lights.

China hats go out as-is, without a plug

EC Props rents every large china hat as-is, like everything else in its stock book. EC's rental policies state the rule in one sentence: "All items are rented on an as-is basis, without an electrical plug, which makes the items non-operational at time of pick-up."
