Street lights for rent: poles, posts and wall lamps

Poles, posts and the cobra head set up

Poles, posts, cobra head parts and other street lamps account for 12 of the 24 lines in EC's Street Lights category. Period street lamps on deco posts come as L-0008, with 6 panes of glass, and L-0009, with an acorn globe. L-0093 is an 18 inch green china hat with a twist on socket cap on a candy cane pole, and L-0067t a white 14 inch china hat with a twist on socket cap on an 18 inch square base.

L-0254 pairs a 29 inch mushroom cap shade with a 10 inch glass globe, and L-0357 is a 24 inch bubble top china hat on a 24 inch square steel base. L-0229 is a street light with a 14 inch metal shade and an elbow, and its line names no mount. Apart from the cobra head poles, no line in this group gives a whole pole height: the book text for L-0093 breaks off at 0"diam x 12... and for L-0067t at 0"diam x 120..., and every line here except L-0229 is cut off, so a height is a question for the front office. The cobra head set up comes as 5 separate lines: an aluminum pole, either L-0482at at 17 feet 8 inches or L-0482as at 13 feet; L-0482b, a 6 foot aluminum arm; L-0482c, the plastic cobra head light fixture; and L-0482d, a steel cart for moving the poles. Each part has its own stock number and count, so a request hold list names the pole, the arm and the fixture one by one. Those counts do not pair up: the set up's two pole lines count 17 poles, 13 of L-0482at and 4 of L-0482as, against 13 arms and 13 fixtures.

Street lamps that mount on a wall

Wall-mount street lamps fill 8 lines of EC's Street Lights category, each one marked wall mount in EC's book. L-0129 is a cobra head body with a mounting pole/bracket. Round plastic shades come with a button top on L-0465, 8 inches across and 14 inches tall, and without one on L-0309, 9 inches across and 12 inches tall; L-0157 pairs a round plastic shade with a stepdown and a mounting pole/bracket, and L-0276 is green metal with a round plastic shade.

L-0364 has a fiberglass body with a plastic lens, L-0375 is a brown metal light shell with a plastic lens, and L-0632 is a 20 inch china hat on a gooseneck pole with an 18 inch by 5 inch mounting plate. More china hats and reflectors of 15 to 20 inches, none of them on a pole or gooseneck in the book text, are filed under Large China Hats.

Exterior floods and the walkway bollard

EC's Street Lights category also holds exterior floods on 3 lines, 24 units in all, and 10 walkway lights on a single line. L-0198 is a scoop shade flood 24 inches wide, 24 deep and 10 tall, L-0209 is a dual head scoop shade flood whose lights each measure the same, and L-0403 is a flood 16 inches in diameter, 24 deep and 22 tall, with a 14 inch plexiglass shade and a 1 inch 90° elbow. The book line for L-0198 adds a note to specify the type of mounting. L-0485 is a bollard-style park and walkway light with a glass globe on top. Lines outside every category turn up through the home page search box, among them one more walkway line, L-0124, counted at 20; say on the request whether you want it with spikes and couplers or without, as its line directs.

Moving the poles: cart, truck and crew

Moving a 17 foot 8 inch street light pole is planned around your vehicle, because EC does not pick up or deliver. EC's book lists a steel transportation cart for the cobra head poles: L-0482d, 33 inches wide, 200 inches deep and 58 inches tall.

For truck size, EC's policies say "You are encouraged to call ahead to see what size truck you will need for your order." On loading, the same policies say "Due to our insurance policies, E. C. Prop Rentals employees cannot help you load or unload your truck, car or van." and ask "Please be sure you send enough crew members with your driver." Pads and ropes or tie-downs are yours to bring. Monday through Friday, holiday closings aside, the loading dock closes at 4:30 PM for pick-ups and returns, so allow enough time to load or unload the poles before it closes.

A crew is not allowed to pick up or begin loading anything on the order, from the poles to a single wall lamp, until the renting show or company has a valid certificate of insurance. In EC's certificate policy, the company listed as Insured on the certificate must match the company that submits the paperwork to be active in EC's system and the company paying for the rentals. EC also asks "Please call and check your account status before you send a crew to pick up your order." The as-is rule in EC's rental policies leaves out none of the 24 Street Lights lines, not even the L-0482b arm or the L-0482d cart: "All items are rented on an as-is basis, without an electrical plug, which makes the items non-operational at time of pick-up."
