Milk crates and produce crates for rent in wood, wire and plastic

Milk crates at 19 by 13 by 11 inches, in three materials

Three of the four milk crate lines on this page are one 19 by 13 by 11 inch crate in three materials: C-0150PA, rectangular plastic in assorted colors, 63 in the book; C-0150m, a metal wire frame, 4; and C-0150w, wood with a metal frame, 3. Between them those three lines count 70 crates at one size, so a row on a dock or along a stockroom wall can mix plastic, wire and wood at one width, depth and height.

C-0150w is the one crate the book marks period, so it is the one to name for a dairy or a corner grocery set in an earlier decade; the wire crate's line names no era.

C-0150pb, the square plastic crate at 13 by 13 by 11 inches, 18 in the book, matches the rectangular crates in depth and height. Neither plastic line gives a count by color, so a scene that needs one color, or a set number of each, should ask the front office which colors are on the floor.

Veggie crates by size, in wood and black plastic

Wood veggie crates come in 5 sizes, 18 to 24 inches wide and 8 to 16 inches tall, 141 crates across those lines, and 95 of them are one line: C-0455b, the small crate at 20 by 12 by 10. C-0455d, 2 inches narrower with slatted sides, shares its 12 inch depth and 10 inch height, so those two lines give 119 wood crates at one depth and height for a stand front. The two large wood veggie lines, C-0455a-1 in slatted wood, 16 in the book, and C-0455A-2, share a 23 inch width, but C-0455A-2's book line reads 23 by 19 by 16 inches and 4 crates while its item page gives 23 by 18 by 14 and 2, so settle its size and count with the front office. C-0314, a produce crate at 23 by 19 by 16 inches found through the stock book search on the home page, gives no material and no count, so ask about it by stock number too.

Black plastic comes in at two of the wood footprints: C-0731, 20 by 12 by 12 inches with 40 in the book, matches C-0455b in width and depth, and C-0732, 24 by 16 by 9 with 19, does the same for C-0455c, the short wood crate at 24 by 16 by 8, so these four lines count 135 crates at 20 by 12 and 23 at 24 by 16 across the two materials.

B-0341, the cardboard and wax produce box, comes in various sizes with no count; ask the front office how many there are and which sizes.

Collapsible crates in green, black and light gray

The collapsible crates are one size, 21 by 14 by 10 inches, and each color is its own line: green C-0778G, 23; black C-0778b, 15; and light gray C-0778lg, 4, so 42 across the three lines. Unlike the plastic milk crates in assorted colors, one color can be named by stock number, and no other crate line is called collapsible.

Glassware crates and soda crates

C-0713a and C-0713b are plastic crates the book lists as storage for glasses, both 20 by 20 inches: C-0713a, for large glasses, is 9 inches tall (7 in the book), and C-0713b, for small glasses, is 4 inches tall (28), 35 crates between the two lines for a bar back or a dish room. Both lines call the crates tan, but C-0713a adds beige, and the book does not settle the color of the 28 on C-0713b, so ask the front office what color those are.

The soda crates carry no count. C-0658, gray plastic at 19 1/2 by 19 1/2 by 3 inches, is the one crate the book calls stackable; C-0329 is plastic in assorted colors, and its line gives no size.

Wood crates sized by cubic feet, some of them on casters

For 9 more wood crate lines, the book gives a size word and a cubic-foot range but no inch measurements, no count and no photo. The 5 that list no casters run from small, up to 15 cubic feet (C-0036), to XXL, 80 and larger (C-0468); the 4 with casters run from 40 cubic feet and under (C-0559) to 66 and larger (C-0088). C-0360, a small interior wood crate, has no measurements, count or photo at all.

The size words mean different volumes in the two runs: medium is 16 to 30 cubic feet on C-0042 and 41 to 55 on C-0070, the medium crate with casters. Name these crates by stock number, not size word, and get dimensions and counts from the front office before the truck is sized.

Truck space for a market's worth of crates

C-0455b alone counts 95 crates in the book, and EC neither weighs crates nor estimates what a load of them weighs, so go over the stock numbers and crate counts with the front office before choosing the truck. Since EC Props does not pick up or deliver, the renter's truck carries the crates both ways.

None of these crates carries a load rating in the book, and all of them go out as-is, so plan them as dressing, not as seats, steps or apple boxes.
