Drinking fountains for rent: wall, recessed and freestanding

Freestanding fountains and the exterior pedestal

The fountains the book calls free standing come in two runs of stock numbers, one unit to a line, all 40 to 42 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide. The W-0031 run, W-0031A to W-0031G, holds 7 lines that name a color but no material: brown, gray, aged gray, putty and beige. The W-0037 lines are stainless steel. W-0031B, W-0031E and W-0037C have a foot pedal.

Sizes repeat across finishes, for two fountains in one shot that should match in size: W-0031A (brown) and W-0031D (gray) are both 16 by 13 by 41 inches, W-0031C (putty) and W-0031E (aged gray) both 18 by 15 by 42, and the beige W-0031F and the stainless W-0037C both 15 by 15 by 40. In the second and third pairs, one fountain has a foot pedal and the other does not: W-0031E and W-0037C carry the pedal.

W-0037A and W-0037B, stainless at 12 by 12 by 40 inches, differ in the book only by faucet side: right on W-0037A, left on W-0037B.

D-0102, marked exterior in the book, is a drinking fountain on a pedestal, 36 inches tall, with no count given. Most water dispensers and 5 gallon bottles are on Water Dispensers. A few water pieces sit outside any category, among them the ceramic crock dispensers on 3 legged stands and a period metal water cooler with a spigot for cup filling, and a stock book search for water on the home page brings them up.

Porcelain wall fountains, period and white

The book marks 2 fountains period, both porcelain wall units with a single bubbler: D-0036A has an octagonal bowl and measures 13 inches wide, 13 deep and 11½ tall, and D-0036B has a rectangular bowl at 13 by 12 by 9. The white W-0006C also has an octagonal bowl, but its line is cut off, and the part the book prints carries no period mark.

W-0006A, W-0006B and W-0006C are white porcelain wall units with a fitting on the right side: a stainless steel knob on W-0006A, a hooded spigot on the rounded W-0006B and a stainless steel spigot on W-0006C. The lines for W-0006A and W-0006B are cut off too, so ask the front office whether any of the three is period before ruling it out. W-0025, a complete line, is white porcelain for in wall mount, 14 by 11 by 27 inches, with no period mark.

Stainless, metal, fiberglass and pebble wall units

Apart from the twin and dual units, these stainless wall mount fountains differ in what the book records: W-0098, 18 by 18 by 22 inches, 2 in the book; W-0064, with beige metal sides, 17 by 18 by 26, no count; and W-0089, 2 in the book, a 14 inch diameter bowl and faucet as a single unit, set on a piece 5 inches wide and 15 deep where the line is cut off. That 14 inch diameter is the one W-0073 gives each of its two bowls.

W-0135, white metal with a steel top, and W-0136, gray metal, are both 15 deep and 29 tall, at 15 and 18 inches wide. W-0090 is white fiberglass, 12 by 12 by 20. W-0121 is pebble sided on the front and left; the book names no finish for its right side, so ask before that side faces camera.

Twin bowls, dual faucets, a recessed unit and a bottle filler

W-0073 has two 14 inch diameter stainless bowls and faucets, mounted on a piece 32 inches wide where the line is cut off. W-0056 is stainless with dual faucets at two depths, 21 and 13 inches, and its line ends on a piece 32 inches wide and 16 tall that it does not name. The book counts 2 of each line.

W-0043, a recessed stainless unit 18 by 13 by 51 inches, is 9 inches taller than the 42 inch floor fountains. For a present-day school, gym or terminal, W-0137 is a stainless water bottle filling station with a removable drain grate, for in wall or recessed mount; its line is cut off before any size.

Depths and widths of the wall units

For a narrow hall, here are the depths the book gives for these wall fountains, front to back: 11 inches for W-0025, an in wall mount unit; 12 for D-0036B, W-0090 and W-0121; 13 for D-0036A, W-0006A and the recessed W-0043; 15 for W-0135 and W-0136, and for the piece W-0089 sits on; 18 for W-0064 and W-0098; and 21 at the deeper faucet of W-0056. Ask how much of that depth sits inside the wall on W-0025 and W-0043. Where a wall fountain has a full size, it is 12 to 18 inches wide; the cut-off lines for W-0073 and W-0056 each end on a piece 32 inches wide.

Pick-up heights: floor fountains and the recessed W-0043

Have two heights ready when phoning the front office about truck size, as EC's pick-up policy encourages: up to 42 inches for the floor fountains, and 51 for the recessed W-0043.
