Jail Bars to Rent, With Bunks, Benches and Visiting Tables

Steel bar sections from 33 to 140 inches wide

Every jail bar section in the EC Props stock book is 95 inches tall, so a section is chosen by its width and by whether it has a door. Widths run from 33 inches on B-0240 to 140 inches on B-0238, with B-0237 at 120 inches; B-0239a is 61 inches wide with 10 bars, and B-0239b is 60 1/2 inches wide with 9 bars. The sections with a door are the 2 listed as B-0236, each 132 inches wide. That book line says to specify unit A or B and to insert B-0236k for the keys, so a request for a door section names the unit letter and adds the key line. The same line's note on the door is cut off at "(Door is..."; ask the front office for the rest of it.

None of the sections has a photo on file in the stock book. The Jail Bars photo wall holds the old site's two Jail Bars images, a full view and a detail. Neither carries a stock number, so ask the front office whether either photo shows one of the sections in this table.

Cell bunks, toilets, mirrors and wall shelves

EC's jail bunks come in a wall mount style, B-0172, 80 by 27 inches with 7 in the book, and a freestanding style on short legs, B-0172a, 80 by 27½ by 18¼ inches with 3 in the book. T-0206 is the jail and prison cell table, wall mount, in gray steel, 24 by 24 inches.

T-0258 is a stainless steel jail toilet, wall mount, with no sink. The toilet and sink units, also stainless steel, differ in where the toilet sits: centered on T-0461a, angled left on T-0461b, angled right on T-0461c and angled right again on T-0491, which has a rounded body; all four are listed with hot and cold buttons.

EC's prison mirrors are stainless steel and wall mount: M-0017 is 16 by 20 inches with 5 in the book, and M-0017a is 14 by 18 inches. The stainless steel wall shelves in the table step up in width from S-1697s, 15½ by 6½ inches with 2 brackets, to S-1697, S-1316 and S-1315 at 24, 36 and 48 inches wide, each 12 inches deep. S-1889, a 46 by 10 inch stainless steel wall shelf with an electrical strip, is not on any category page, but typing its number into the stock book search on EC's home page, which reads every line, brings it up. Its note on the strip is cut off at "***ELECTRICAL STRIP IS NOT ...", so ask the front office how that note ends.

For a cell that has to match, the mirrors, the shelves and every toilet unit are listed as stainless steel and the cell table as gray steel, while the bunk lines name no material; ask the front office about the bunks' finish.

Holding area seating and handcuff bar tables

The holding area benches with a handcuff bar are B-0287, steel, 72 inches wide, with the bar on the front of the seat; B-0303, black steel, 84 inches wide, with a handcuff bar and shackle brackets built into its legs, 4 in the book; and B-0339, fiberglass on metal legs with no back, 96 inches wide.

B-0284 is an aluminum bench without a back, on T style legs with a bottom bar, 90 inches long, and its book line ends in a note cut off at "***ITEM CANNO..."; get the whole of that note from the front office before the bench goes on a request. S-1270 is a prison style stool in stainless steel on a metal post and base, 12 inches across and 18 inches tall, and C-0226 is an aluminum frame slatback chair with 3 slats, squared legs and no upholstery, with 22 in the book.

T-0126g is a gray office and utility table, 60 by 30 inches and 29 inches tall, with a 51 inch handcuff bar on its side. T-0126f is gray too, and its book line gives 21 inches on top and 51 inches on the side, then stops at "handcuff b..." with no size for the table, which leaves that size to the front office.

Each bench line on this page gives its length, depth and height, so a holding area wall can be planned from the table before you call the front office. Every bench here except the fiberglass B-0339 also appears in Bleachers & Benches, the prison stool turns up again under Stools, and the slatback chair has a second home among the chairs.

Visiting room tables, the partition counter and phones

EC lists its visitation tables as 4 person or 2 person: J-0039 is a round 4 person table in stainless steel, 40 inches across and 30 inches tall; J-0040 is a round 2 person table, also stainless steel, 28 inches across and 30 inches tall; and J-0041 is a 4 person octagon table in gray steel, 45 by 45 inches, with 4 in the book. Both round table lines are cut off at "seats...", and the front office has the rest of what J-0039 and J-0040 say about seats.

C-0480 is the prison visiting counter, 145 inches wide, 42 inches deep and 48 inches tall with 8 partitions, and its own line notes that the S-1804 stools are rented separately.

P-0295 is a wall mount phone with a steel cord and cradle on a stainless steel plate, 5 by 5 inches, with 30 in the book. P-0106 is an inmate phone with a stainless steel body, a cord and a black phone, 11 inches tall, and P-0313 is a black mock-up of an electronic system command set with a period cradle and phone.

None of the 7 visiting room lines is a sign. Notices such as S-1148, Visitor Regulations, and S-1690, No Eating In Visiting Room, are listed with the jail and prison signs, and S-3076, a Visiting Rules sign on attorney visits to an inmate, is among the Courthouse Signs. Another No Eating In Visiting Room sign, S-2558, is 20 by 8 inches where S-1690 is 14 by 8, has 2 in the book and belongs to no category.

Security cameras and the interrogation room camera

Security camera lines in EC's Jail Bars & Furnishings category span mini to large: S-2341 is a mini camera 1 3/4 inches wide on a 3 inch stainless steel arm, and S-0912a is a large camera with a plexiglass front, a red light and a mounting arm, 21 inches deep, with 7 in the book. Two of the camera lines in this table need more than a stock number on a request. S-0912b, a small camera with a plexiglass front and a mounting arm, comes as #1, #2 and #3, with 7, 2 and 20 in the book and #1 given as 5 by 14 by 4 inches, so the request names the number. For S-0115, 3 by 9 by 3 inches with 5 in the book, the request gives a color and a type of mounting arm.

Ceiling mount globe cameras are S-2496, black plastic, 4 inches across, with 7 in the book, and S-2573, 5 inches across with red trim. Period looks include S-0045, a metal box camera on a 90 degree pipe arm, and S-1285, a large white box camera, while S-1724 is a recessed camera housing with a smoke plexiglass front and a red light. Outside this table and outside every category, the book also lists S-1235, a zoom lens surveillance camera in a round casing, and S-0911, a security camera housing on a mounting bracket with 2 red lights, 7 by 20 by 7 inches; the S-0911 line breaks off at "[SPECIFY W/ OR W...", so ask the front office what a request for it has to name.

L-0559 is the interrogation room camera, freestanding on a chrome post. The cameras go out on the same as-is terms as everything else EC rents, which its rental policies put this way: "All items are rented on an as-is basis, without an electrical plug, which makes the items non-operational at time of pick-up."

Truck, crew and pads for 95 inch steel sections

The renter's own truck and crew move the steel bar sections from the North Hollywood dock, since EC's policies say "E. C. Prop Rentals does not provide pick up or delivery."

With sections 95 inches tall and up to 140 inches wide on an order, the truck is chosen to fit them, and the policies say "You are encouraged to call ahead to see what size truck you will need for your order."

EC's policies are plain about loading: "Due to our insurance policies, E. C. Prop Rentals employees cannot help you load or unload your truck, car or van." The same page adds "Please be sure you send enough crew members with your driver."

On weight, the policies say "E. C. Prop Rentals does not have the ability to weigh any items being rented, nor do we give estimates on the weight of any items being rented." EC's policies also leave the pads and tie-downs to the renter: "Also be sure that you have pads and ropes or tie-downs."

The will-call dock at 11846 Sherman Way has a cutoff, in EC's words: "The loading dock closes at 4:30 PM for pick ups and returns." EC's certificate of insurance policy calls for a valid certificate "before you will be allowed to pick up or begin loading an order" and adds "You cannot use another company's certificate of insurance," so the certificate has to name the same company that holds the EC account and pays for the order.
