Gas station and auto repair signs for rent: pump island, oil and smog check

Pump island, forecourt and numeral signs

S-0348a, S-0348b and S-2526 are one period porcelain enamel No Smoking Stop Your Motor sign in three sizes, with one of each: the first two long and low at 30 by 6 and 24 by 6 inches, the third upright at 10 by 32. For a matching sign on every island, S-2035 holds 8 two-sided metal No Smoking Stop Engine signs. Neither wording appears among EC's No Smoking Signs. One more Stop Your Motor line, S-1143, sits on no category page and turns up in the stock book search on the home page: Stop Your Motor/No Smoking, 2-sided red and white metal listed at 12x6, with no count given and no photo.

S-1990, Clean Restrooms, is the fourth porcelain line filed here, double-sided at 30 by 37 inches, and its book line ends two words into a bracketed note, SPECIFY IF, so raise that note in the hold request. S-0765 reads Please Pay Cashier Before Pumping Gas, 24 by 36 inches in metal.

For the figures on a station's roadside sign, S-1072 holds 8 two-sided black and yellow numeral signs, 16 inches wide and 31 tall. The book names 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 across them, with no 1, 7 or 8 and no count per numeral, so tell the front office the figure you want to spell. S-1483 holds 4 red signs with white numbers listed as 16, 17, 18 and 19, and its line never says what they numbered.

Credit card signs for the cashier window

S-0300 reads Master Charge the Interbank Card, period metal in orange, gold, black and white at 29 by 18 inches. S-0459, Your Bankamericard Welcome Here, is period too and the one card line on this page that the book marks two-sided; S-0910 is 2 period signs that each carry Discover, Mastercard and Visa. S-0048, Mastercharge with Visa, has no period mark and comes on its own wall bracket. All four card lines here are metal and none gives a decade, so the issuer names on the faces date the cashier window.

Motor oil, Bosch and tire signs

Brand walls start from S-0461a, 7 period Valvoline Motor Oil signs, each 30 by 30 inches. S-0461b, Valvoline Racing Oil, matches them in colors, metal and size, so together they make 8 square signs, 20 feet hung edge to edge, while a run that must read Motor Oil on every face stops at 7.

The Bosch signs in EC's book come on two embossed metal lines, 4 in all: S-0494 Bosch Spark Plugs, one sign at 24 by 10 inches, and S-0495 Bosch Automotive Products Imported Car Service & Tune-Up, 3 signs on a line that stops after a 26 inch width. S-0462, Quaker State Products, is period metal with a base board. S-1073, Gas Saving Radials with a picture of a tire on a wheel, is 72 by 24 inches, the widest size the book gives in this category, and beside the mag wheels notice S-1700 it dresses a tire counter.

Smog check, inspection station and state signs

S-0591 is 3 metal inspection station signs for motor vehicle pollution control devices, on a line cut off before any size. S-1201 reads Smog Check Inspection Pass or Free Retest, at 18 by 24 inches. S-0633 lists smog device services with an amount for each, and S-0763, 5 period signs, lists Crankcase Inspection and Exhaust & Crankcase Inspection, each with its amount, before its book line breaks off.

S-0460, Official Lamp Adjusting Station, and S-0767, Official Muffler Certification Station, read as a pair: period metal in gold and dark blue, 24 by 30 inches each. S-0302, the period Automotive service council IGO sign, matches their 30 inch height at 26 wide. S-0317, This Establishment Is Registered With The State Department, has 2 in the book, on a line that breaks off inside a note that begins "lists automotive repair".

Bay headers and shop floor signs

S-1815 Brake Service and S-1816 Motor Tune Up are black on white metal headers, 58 inches wide by 9 tall, their book lines matching word for word apart from the service. S-0768, Mufflers, is the same size, odd-shaped and hand painted on wood. Each is a single sign, so a row of 3 bays takes every header the book lists at that size.

Mufflers pairs with S-0770, Have Your Exhaust System Checked Today, and with the muffler certification sign S-0767; Motor Tune Up pairs with the Bosch signs S-0495 and S-0494. In the battery corner, S-0734, 3 Battery Storage Area signs, and S-1385, Danger Battery Charger Area, are all 14 by 10 inches, so all 4 signs hang at one size.

Shop policy, liability and customer notices

S-1135 reads Notice No Vehicle Shall Be Released Until Paid In Full, in blue and white plastic at 21 by 15 inches, and the same rule heads the Shop Policy bullets on S-0260. At the shop door, S-0371 tells customers to wait outside and S-0373, 2 in masonite, keeps them out of work areas, both on insurance grounds. Neither line gives a size, and most of the notice lines in this table break off before one.

Three more of these lines disclaim liability: S-0457 and S-0544 for fire and theft, and the 2 S-1700 signs for mag wheels while changing tires. The rest cover storage (S-0458, for vehicles left over 3 days after notice of completion), check-out and check-in procedures (S-2308), tool lending (S-0013 and S-1139) and towing (S-1134, a list with spaces to write in the amounts).

Account, certificate and pads for porcelain and two-sided signs

A station order starts in the front office, not at the dock. Until EC has the renting company active in its system, it cannot draw up an estimate or invoice for these signs, and no one picks them up or starts loading them before EC holds a valid certificate of insurance naming as Insured the same company that pays for the order.

The four two-sided lines in the tables above, S-2035, S-1072, S-0459 and S-1990, have no blank back to lay against the truck bed, so pad both faces, and keep the porcelain enamel and embossed Bosch faces apart in the load. Every pad comes from the renter, and so do the ropes or tie-downs: "E. C. Prop Rentals does not supply expendables." Like everything EC rents, these 44 lines, porcelain included, are rented as-is.
